William Jacob MARX

William married Elsie Eliza CREDIT, daughter of Fred CREDIT and
Martha W. SCHOLL. (Elsie Eliza CREDIT was born on 11 Dec 1898 in
Berlin, IL and died on 13 Aug 1994 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA.)
Bill served in WWI and was gassed by the German use of mustard gas.
He also was shot in the head and survived. When he removed his helmet,
it was dented from the bullet--it was a glancing blow. He survived and
returned to St. Louis MO where he served as a Stereotyper on the St.
Louis Post-Dispatch and soon was elected President of the Stereotypers
Union. In 1951 he was treated for cancer in his leg and later was
hospitalized with a brain tumor. He died Feb 18 1954.
